The struggle is real

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. That the thing about our struggles is if we didn’t have them we wouldn’t progress.  We wouldn’t be able to show our strengths. Our struggles might help someone else with their own. We’re all going to have times of struggle, times of woe. Look back on some of your hardest times…see how far you’ve come.

You’ve gone through some things, you’ve had moments where you didn’t think you could possibly pick yourself up one more time. You did though. I did. Fall down seven times, stand up eight. We are fighters, survivors. We are stronger than we know.

Dirty hands

Last weekend of April already…this month has flown by it seems like. I’m hoping the warmer weather we’re having is the sign that spring is here to stay. With spring impending it’s the time of year to get your hands dirty. I like to open up all my windows, do some deep cleaning in the house. Get outdoors and plant flowers and a garden full of veggies.

This year we’re expanding our garden. Adding more tomato and pepper plants. We’re thinking about adding other vegetables as well. Last year I planted some Gerber Daises in our front flower bed and they are starting to grow. What kind of plants do like to grow? Do you like to spring clean or hate it?

Sultan of Swat

It’s national Babe Ruth Day!! Who’s Babe Ruth?? You’re killing me smalls! Keep reading for some interesting facts about the Great Bambino.

  • George Herman “Babe” Ruth, Jr.,  born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland was nicknamed “the Bambino” and “the Sultan of Swat.”  Spending 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), he played for three teams from 1914 to 1935.
  • Babe Ruth’s baseball career started as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. He became a full-time right-fielder when the New York Yankees bought his contract in 1919.
  • Ruth set career records, in his time, for home runs, slugging percentage, runs batted in, and on-base plus slugging.  In 1927, he was the very first player to hit 60 home runs in one season.
  • Following a short stint with the Boston Braves, Ruth retired in 1935.  In 1936, he became one of the first five players to be elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Go knock one out of the park!

Country Mouse

I grew up in the outskirts of a very small town. The biggest cities I’ve ever been to as an adult are Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo. I went on a vacation to Disney when I was a kid and remember how packed full of people it was and I had two adults to guide me around. Now I’m that adult that’s going to be guiding a young one around a busy area with lots of foot traffic.

So I mentioned before that I’m getting ready to take a big trip this year to NYC in my post  Concrete Jungle

My Bonnie overseas aka best friend gave me some airport advice which inspired me to post this. I’ve never been on a plane or inside a busy airport. It’s not like I’ll be traveling alone I’ll be with someone who’s flown before. I’m just looking for other helpful tips and tricks of getting through an airport. Not going to lie I’ve got some anxiety about flying as well as excitement.  Tell me what your favorite thing about flying is? What’s your least favorite?

Extra! Extra!

via Daily Prompt: Elaborate

How many times have you elaborated on a simple story to make it sound just a little better? We are all guilty of it at one point or another. Using the word literally but we are not literally doing the thing we described. The art of embellishing is something everyone learns. My son is very imaginative with describing things that happened. He likes to gesture sometimes when he’s animated. He gets it from me honestly haha

All the Extras

You do go on dear

When telling us your stories

They are very complex

Don’t fail to try

I have little motivation this morning. Maybe it’s the weather or maybe I’m just feeling like I’m in funk. Not the kind of funk that smells funny just to clarify. I take daily showers thank you very much. I decided to look at some inspirational quotes and share them in case you need a little motivation as well.

Related image <— I struggle with this in particular quite a lot. Feeling like I’m not good enough…I think we all have struggled with this at one time or another though.

Related image <— I love this quote. I feel like it’s basically saying if the winds aren’t moving you along you can pick yourself and propel yourself forward. For me personally it’s my go to if I’m feeling somewhat lazy and need to be told to get moving haha

Image result for if you stumble make it part of the dance <— This is something I can really relate to. I’m a super klutzy person in both movements and social situations. So if I’m going to stumble (which I have and will again) I try to make it look like it was all intentional

What are some of your favorite quotes that motivate you?

No refunds on this gift

via Daily Prompt: Bestow

Have you ever been given something special? Maybe a genetic trait or a quirk you inherited? When I think of the word bestow I think of the gifts you never asked for but received anyways. Maybe it was someone who saw something and bought it because it made them think of you. I’ve been bestowed with an Irish complexion and hair I can’t quite control without lots or products and occasional swearing. I’m going to bestow a blessing to you in haiku form.

Blessing Bestowed

A gift just for you

May you always have good days

And suffer few tears

Buffalo wings brought me my best friend

Yesterday I had a memory pop up in my timeline from two years ago. It was a picture of my boyfriend and I on our first getaway couples weekend. We went to Cincinnati for a whole weekend. Watched the Reds kick butt in a baseball game, explored the city and had an amazing weekend overall. It really made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to think about how much we’ve grown together as a couple. I thought about how much I’ve grown myself.

I met my boyfriend in a bar on a trivia night. I know what you’re thinking…the bar is not a reliable place to meet a guy/girl if you’re looking for a deeper relationship other than a one night stand. This could not be further from the truth at least for me personally. I’ve never been very good at the whole dating scene. I’m socially awkward as all get out. I had gone there to just relax after work, have a beer and play some trivia.

Our eyes met across the high table and I found myself looking his way more than once the whole night. We never exchanged numbers that night. We ended up running into each other two weeks later. I felt like that was a huge sign loudly saying “take a chance here”. We’ve been dating ever since. It’s not always roses and sunshine, and it’s not always storms and clouds either. We both keep working together through everything that comes our way and I couldn’t feel more blessed with my chance at love.

Is thou wearing thy mother’s drapes

It’s Shakespeare’s birthday today. So to celebrate you can talk like the beloved writer or write like him. I’ve looked up some Shakespearean insults to share with you all and listed some of my favorites:

“Away, you three-inch fool! “

“Go, prick thy face, and over-red thy fear, Thou lily-liver’d boy.”

“I am sick when I do look on thee”

“I’ll beat thee, but I would infect my hands.”

“Poisonous bunch-backed toad!”

Not a replica

via Daily Prompt: Authentic

You know how if you watch an antique show there are professionals who authentic the material? They can tell if it’s an original or if it’s some sort of replica. Sometimes it’s a stamp that the maker puts on the item. Sometimes it’s the color of the paint used. They can always tell what it’s worth. Being yourself is always of greater value than trying to be someone else.

Priceless

It’s the real deal

One hundred percent all true

Can’t pass off a fake
